PPROSATE BIOPSY- Afterwards

PROSATE BIOPSY: Afterwards
After your test, you may feel a little uncomfortable to pass urine and may experience a “burning sensation” when you do so. This will soon pass and will do so quickly if you drink plenty of fluids, e.g. a glass every hour over the next few days.

WHEN YOU GO HOME
• You should spend the remainder of the day resting.

• Drink a glass of water every hour to relieve the “Burning sensation” and to wash the blood away.

• Call us on 0208 3635598 or your GP if the burning sensation persists, since you may have acquired an infection. You will need to give a urine sample to confirm presence of an infection and may be commenced on antibiotics.

• Do not strain to pass a motion over the next 2-4 hours.

• If you are passing blood through your back passage or if your urine is heavily bloodstained, if you are running a temperature which is making you shiver, this may indicate some infection and you will need some antibiotics. In such a case please contact us on
0208 3635598.
