Mr Ballaro qualified from the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine in 1993. He gained a Masters and an MD in Clinical Sciences from the Institute of Urology, University College London, and undertook higher urological training in North London. Mr Ballaro is trained in all aspects of urology, and has received extensive sub-specialist training in endourology, advanced stone surgery and laparoscopic surgery from National and Internationally recognised experts in these fields. He is listed on the GMC Specialist Register, and is a member of The British Society of Urological Surgeons, and European Association of Urology.
Mr Ballaro has been practicing urology for twelve years. He is Consultant Urological Surgeon at BHR NHS Trust, which is the third busiest NHS Trust in the London area and serves both North London and Essex. He is the lead specialist in endourology and stone surgery. As well as running a busy general urology practice he is one of the very few urological surgeons in London who performs the full range of endourological surgery including laparoscopic surgery for both benign and malignant diseases of the kidneys, laser surgery for stones and also performs supine percutaneous nephrolithotomy tract placement for larger kidney stones.
Mr Ballaro has an interest in medical education and has a research interest in minimally invasive surgical techniques and the basic science of bladder dysfunction. He has over fifty related publications. He has been awarded a number of research fellowships and awards for his work including a Hunterian Professorship from the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
